Comme des Garcons’ New York Market Market
Comme des Garcons‘ Big Sale It’s 10 a.m. on Friday morning, and Mark Ghuneim, chief executive officer and founder of digital agency Wiredset, is second in line at the opening of Comme des Garçons’ New York Market Market, the four-day shopping festival of archival merch priced 70 percent off retail. With just minutes left before the doors swing open at The Cathedral on West 41st Street, he can’t stop gushing over his love for designer Rei Kawakubo. “I live and breathe Rei,” says Ghuneim, who paid an employee $100 to arrive four hours earlier, at 6. a.m., as a placeholder. “This is really the only fashion sample sale I’d ever…

Kors Light
Michael Kors Presents Winter Fur Collection While resort is just beginning, fur season is getting into full swing. At a presentation on Monday, Michael Kors showed a collection full of capes and tunics done in nearly weightless furs — in particular a suntan pullover with a cashmere back and a long lavender wrap, both in unlined, knitted fox. While some pieces were more structured, they never looked cumbersome. Highlights included a basic Barguzin sable beauty; a suede-backed, white mink cape and the amusing mixes of goat and mink for slender short coats. None the less luxurious, this collection skewed younger and sportier than ever.

Bottega Vinetta Cruise 2012
At Bottega Veneta, Tomas Maier took a double-sided approach to the season. “The challenge is to work on the idea of resort as going away, but also as for the city,” he noted. Thus, looks were sporty, some with military touches, done in a muted palette with pops of brights. Maier also is launching his first resort collection for men, which opens for sales next week.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
Once upon a time, famous women wore their jewels. They didn’t let someone else’s jewels wear them. That is but one of many fabulous take-aways from the dazzling show “Set in Style: The Jewelry of Van Cleef & Arpels,” at the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum through July 4th. Since its opening on the Place Vendôme in Paris in 1906, Van Cleef & Arpels has played a leading role in style and design innovation. Its timeless pieces have been worn by style icons including the Duchess of Windsor, Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor. This exhibition will explore the historical significance of the firm’s contributions to jewelry design in the 20th century,…

Cropped tuxedo jackets in contrasting colors or studded leather biker jackets were paired with slim cotton pants in bold tones or skinny jeans. The house’s iconic animalier prints peeked out on an ubershort balloon dress and on a flowy asymmetric tunic version.

Leaving on a Jet Plane
Don’t know when I’ll be back again. No worries, I will return on June 1st, but I have compiled posts for you guys to enjoy while I am away. Hello everyone! Today, I am headed to Ambergris Caye, Belize. Wooohoooo! The island Ambergris Caye, pronounced “am-BER-gris”, is the largest island of Belize located northeast of the country in the Caribbean Sea. Though administered as part of the Belize District, the closest point on the mainland is part of the Corozal District. A Maya community lived on the island in Pre-Columbian times, and made distinctive polished red ceramics, most notably small well molded figurines of animals. The Caye (pronounced as “key”,…

Blame it on the Rain
I grew up a tomboy which meant constantly “borrowing” my brother’s clothes without his permission. I think that might be the reason why he hated me in high school, I sorta kept getting ketchup stains on his prestine white printed shirts. To this day I still love menswear. Occasionally, I raid my hubby’s closet, but unlike my brother he doesn’t mind – I also moonlights as his stylist 🙂 When I’m out shopping for his clothes, I tend to always get inspired (which you will see in future post). On this rainy & cloudy day in NYC, I decided to wear my tribal dress, paired with my husband’s shirt, my old 1st generation Burberry boots (which…

Little White Dress
I guess by now the cat’s out of the bag, I am a big Hennes & Mauritz fan. In fact, I’m a big fan of everything from Sweden. So its no surprise that when H&M rolled out their Eco-Friendly Brand, the Conscious Collection I would be the first in line to nab a few. Who could resist the collection, its sustainable & adorable at the same time. That white fluff you see on the left is my dog Max One of the reasons why I love Summer is getting to wear Summer whites. So Fresh & So Clean look. This year when I was organizing my shoes, I came across…
